Hibanobambusa

It is believed that this single species genus named for Mt. Hiba is a hybrid between Sasa veitchii and Phyllostachys nigra "Henon". It does have characteristics of both but there are no molecular studies to confirm this to my knowledge. Regardless, it is a beautiful bamboo of moderate size with large leaves and the variegated form is stunning.
