Jubaea
Jubaea is a palm known for its humongous trunk, sometimes over 6 feet in diameter. It has stiff pinnate leaves and is found in a limited region of Chile. Its common name is Chilean wine palm as the sap was once used to make wine. It's cold hardy to zone 8 and although it hasn't performed well in southern Florida there are specimens in the southeastern US doing well. We have found that 20 gallon sized plants adapt better to less than ideal conditions. This is a favorite of ours.
