Phoenix

Phoenix are a pinnate leaved genus that produce dates thus the common name of date palm. The diverse group includes a few single trunked and quite a few clustering trunked palms. Several are relatively cold tolerant and most come from dry regions but they need adequate water to look nice. They hybridize freely with each other and pure seed are becoming harder to find. The petioles are very spiney and care should be taken with placement.
